Michael Loyd

Michael Loyd was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. A naturally gifted athlete, he grew up playing basketball and football, but found a true affinity for tennis when he was 14. He played throughout high school, and attended the University of Rio Grande Valley on a Division 1 tennis scholarship.

On a search for something new to do during the pandemic – all tennis nets in his area were dismantled – Michael discovered the game of pickleball and fell in love with the sport. He continued to play after receiving his masters in business administration, and took the sport up professionally in 2022.

In October of 2023, Michael entered his first tournament while working full time for HEAD Pickleball, and went on to win three medals on the APP tour. He is now signed with PPA and traveling all over the country competing and teaching.
